Our Story
At MarketCap Investments™, our approach is shaped by the experience of building, operating, and growing businesses firsthand. Founder Randy Caplan brings decades of entrepreneurial and technology leadership, including his role in building Silicon Creations from an emerging startup into a globally recognized semiconductor technology company. That experience continues to influence how we evaluate opportunities, support founders, and think about long-term value creation.
Alongside Randy, Maria Luna, Chief Creative Officer, brings a multidisciplinary perspective spanning commercial strategy, legal experience, brand development, and organizational leadership. Sam Wilder, Chief Operating Officer, oversees the day-to-day operations of MarketCap Investments and works closely with select portfolio companies across strategic execution, market development, operational priorities, and growth initiatives.
Together, the MarketCap Investments™ team brings an operator-led perspective to early-stage investing, with a primary focus on companies advancing health, wellness, technology, and human well-being. Randy Caplan
Founder & CEO
Randy Caplan brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of innovation and leadership to MarketCap Investments™, solidified through his significant accomplishments in the semiconductor technology industry. Beginning his career at Agilent Technologies in 2001, Randy helped to develop state-of-the-art high-speed data transceivers used to build the global internet infrastructure. In 2003, he excelled further as a Senior Design Engineer for MOSAID (formerly known as Virtual Silicon), leading the clocking systems design and playing a crucial role in developing new high performance silicon IP products. In December 2006, he co-founded Silicon Creations, where he continues to serve as Principal/Co-Founder. Under his leadership, Silicon Creations has evolved from a developing startup into a global leader in semiconductor interface and clocking IP. His leadership in the company’s expansion is highlighted its exceptional employee retention rate (nearly 100%) and the company’s designs being included in over 1000 mass produced electronic products worldwide. The company’s ability to forge relationships with over 400 companies across more than 20 countries is a testament to his exceptional leadership and business expertise. Randy's accomplishments position him as a visionary leader in our investment firm, ready to build a more sustainable and thriving future.
Maria Luna
Chief Creative Officer (CCO)
Maria Luna plays a pivotal role as our Chief Creative Officer (CCO) combining a dynamic assortment of commercial insight and legal expertise. Her journey in retail management at Progresiva Jeans (2003-2014) showcases her proficiency in customer service, sales, marketing, and team leadership. Maria was responsible for the management of store operations, demonstrating a strong capability in business strategy and employee development. Her role as a Legal Consultant for Fundación Guatemala from 2011-2012 highlights her versatility, where she contributed significantly to government infrastructure projects and facilitated conferences with over 50 political representatives, displaying strong organizational and leadership skills. Maria’s diverse background brings a unique perspective to MarketCap’s mission, driving innovation and sustainable growth for each investment company.
Sam Wilder
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
As Chief Operating Officer (COO) at MarketCap Investments™, Sam Wilder plays a pivotal role in driving the firm’s strategic growth across sales, relationship management, marketing, consulting, and financial oversight. Drawing on his diverse experience, he ensures every investment aligns with MarketCap’s vision and goals. Sam’s hands-on approach strengthens client relations and streamlines operations, while his focus on cross-functional collaboration drives innovation and performance across the portfolio.
